Vol. I is the debut album by Quebec duo Angine de Poitrine, released in 2024. The largely instrumental record introduced the band's distinctive blend of math rock, progressive rock, and tightly arranged rhythmic compositions, establishing the foundation for the sound they would further develop on later releases.
Following the album's release, Angine de Poitrine built a growing audience through appearances at festivals including Le Festif!, M for Montreal, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and Pop Montreal. Their profile expanded significantly in late 2025 and early 2026, culminating in a viral KEXP performance that introduced the duo to a much broader international audience.
While initially a relatively underground release, Vol. I marked the beginning of a rapid rise for the Saguenay based group, whose combination of technical musicianship, instrumental songwriting, and unconventional visual presentation attracted increasing attention in Canada and abroad.
