Decemberunderground is the seventh studio album by AFI, released in 2006 through Interscope Records. Produced by Jerry Finn, it expanded the band’s post hardcore foundation with electronic programming, synthesizers, and a stronger new wave influence.
Songs such as “Miss Murder”, “Love Like Winter”, and “The Missing Frame” combine distorted guitars and dramatic vocals with polished arrangements and programmed textures. The album moves between alternative rock, emo, gothic rock, and synth driven pop, reflecting AFI’s continued shift away from the more direct hardcore sound of their earlier work.
Decemberunderground debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was later certified platinum in the United States.
