Originally released alongside Amy Heckerling’s 1995 teen comedy, the Clueless soundtrack quickly became a cult favourite in its own right. A snapshot of mid-90s alternative pop and rock, it features a wide-ranging mix of artists including The Muffs (“Kids in America”), Luscious Jackson, Cracker, World Party, Counting Crows, and Radiohead (“Fake Plastic Trees”), whose inclusion helped broaden the band’s early North American reach.
Blending original tracks and well-chosen covers, the soundtrack mirrors the film’s upbeat tone and California-cool aesthetic, with styles that range from punk-pop to mellow alt-rock. Long out of print, it’s been reissued periodically for anniversaries. This 30th anniversary edition comes pressed on limited hot pink vinyl. As if.
