Danzig III: How the Gods Kill is the third studio album by Danzig, released in 1992 by Def American Recordings. At the time of its release it became the band’s highest charting album, and it was later reissued in 1998 after the label was renamed American Recordings.

The album expands the group’s sound beyond the blues based heavy rock of their earlier releases, incorporating elements drawn from pre rock blues, pop, and gothic influences. Songs such as “Dirty Black Summer,” “How the Gods Kill,” and “Sistinas” illustrate this broader approach, combining darker lyrical themes with more varied arrangements and guitar textures.

The cover artwork features a modified painting by Swiss artist H. R. Giger inspired by the novel The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. Upon release the album received generally positive reviews and is often cited as one of the defining recordings from the band’s original lineup.
