NEW DOUBLE LP

New sealed copy. 2012 remastered and remixed reissue.

Outskirts, released in March 1987 on Risqué Disque, is the debut album by Canadian country rock band Blue Rodeo. It features hit singles like "Try" and "Rose-Coloured Glasses", which made their mark on the Canadian charts and helped establish the band’s presence in the national music scene. The singles "Outskirts" and "Rebel" also found some success, further highlighting the album’s range of styles that blend country, rock, and pop influences.

The album's initial reception was humble, with the band recalling how it sold 5,000 copies and faced skepticism from the label. Despite this, Outskirts became a touchstone in Blue Rodeo's discography, laying the groundwork for their signature sound and live performance reputation.

To mark its 25th anniversary, Blue Rodeo revisited Outskirts with a remixed vinyl edition, Outskirts Remix, released on November 27, 2012. On the album’s 30th anniversary, Jim Cuddy shared personal memories on the band’s website, describing how Outskirts began on a night that coincided with the birth of his first child. He reflected on the band’s early days, the initial struggle to find an audience, and the unexpected longevity and impact of the record. Cuddy wrote, "We could never have dreamed of being where we are today and looking back on 30 years of playing music together. Sometimes life surprises you." The album’s enduring spirit captures the feeling of playing in small clubs with nothing to lose, setting the tone for a career built on resilience and musical exploration.
