NEW DOUBLE LP

New sealed copy. 180 gram vinyl.

Maroon is the fifth studio album by Barenaked Ladies, released in September 2000 as the follow-up to their breakout 1998 album Stunt. Produced by Don Was, the record debuted at No. 1 in Canada—making it the band’s second chart-topper at home after Gordon—and No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in the United States. It sold over a million copies in the U.S. and included the singles Pinch Me, Too Little Too Late, and Falling for the First Time.

The album was primarily written by Steven Page and Ed Robertson, marking a creative shift toward tighter collaboration between the band’s two principal songwriters. Page’s Baby Seat, co-written with longtime partner Stephen Duffy, would be their final joint contribution to a Barenaked Ladies album. The hidden track Hidden Sun was written by Kevin Hearn while recovering from leukemia treatment, adding an understated emotional note to the record’s close.

Maroon continued the band’s mix of wit and sincerity, balancing humor with introspection in songs that explored isolation, self-doubt, and fleeting connection. It was also the group’s first release to receive a 5.1 surround mix on DVD-Audio. In 2020, a 20th Anniversary Edition was issued digitally and later on vinyl, including B-sides and alternate versions that offered a fuller picture of one of the band’s most polished and enduring albums.
