NEW DOUBLE LP (SIDE D ETCHED)
New sealed copy. 2025 remastered reissue.
Counterparts is the fifteenth studio album by Rush, released in 1993 through Anthem Records. Produced by Peter Collins, with Kevin Shirley engineering, the album continued the band's move away from synthesizer heavy arrangements toward a more direct, guitar centered rock sound.
The record was shaped by the band's interest in a more organic and spontaneous approach, with influences including Primus and Pearl Jam. Lyrically, Neil Peart explored themes of duality, relationships, heroism, and identity, which helped give the album its title.
Counterparts reached number two on the Billboard album chart and number six in Canada. "Stick It Out" topped the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart, while the instrumental "Leave That Thing Alone" received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
