NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. Gatefold jacket.
Dev Hynes returns as Blood Orange with Essex Honey, his first full-length studio album since 2018’s Negro Swan and his debut for RCA Records. Written and produced entirely by Hynes, the album reflects on themes of grief, memory, and healing, grounded in his upbringing in Essex and shaped by the emotional weight of recent years.
The album includes a wide range of collaborators, from Lorde and Caroline Polachek to Mustafa the Poet, Daniel Caesar, Brendan Yates (Turnstile), and author Zadie Smith. These contributions blend seamlessly into Hynes’ introspective vision, balancing sparse, melancholic songwriting with vivid sonic textures inspired by Elliott Smith, The Replacements, and his earlier Blood Orange work.
Essex Honey was introduced with the single “The Field” in June, followed by the dual release of “Somewhere in Between” and “Mind Loaded” in July. A North American and European tour accompanies the release, including residencies in Toronto and Brooklyn.
Critics have praised the album for its emotional clarity and depth. According to Metacritic, it has received "universal acclaim," with a score of 90 based on early reviews.
