Afie Jurvanen recorded My Second Last Album after relocating from city life to Nova Scotia, working out of a small shed studio with drummer and longtime collaborator Joshua Van Tassel. The record moves between soul, folk, country funk, and pop, with an emphasis on direct songwriting about family life, aging, and the search for steady ground away from the spotlight.
The album opens with an easy rhythmic feel on “Feels So Good,” setting the tone for a collection that leans on warm arrangements and relaxed performances. The lead single “The Bridge” brings a lighter touch, pairing a conversational lyric with a laid back groove. Throughout the record, Jurvanen focuses on simple musical ideas delivered with clarity, making this one of his most personal and self contained statements.
