The Hurry and the Harm is the fourth studio album by City and Colour, the solo project of Dallas Green, released in 2013 and produced by Alex Newport. The album pairs Green’s introspective songwriting with a broader musical approach, combining acoustic folk influences with fuller rock arrangements.
Written during a period of personal transition, the songs explore themes of love, loss, relationships, and uncertainty. Tracks such as “Thirst”, “The Lonely Life”, and the title track balance quieter moments with more expansive instrumentation, reflecting the album’s focus on both struggle and perseverance.
The album debuted at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart and received generally favourable reviews from critics. It was later certified Platinum in Canada.
