NEW LP
New sealed copy. 2023 reissue on 180 gram vinyl.
Released exclusively in the United States, Flowers is the Rolling Stones’ second American compilation, collecting tracks recorded between 1965 and 1967. While much of the material had appeared in the UK or on singles, three tracks—“My Girl,” “Ride On, Baby,” and “Sittin’ on a Fence”—made their official debut here. All were outtakes from earlier sessions, with “My Girl” dating back to the Satisfaction era and the other two recorded during early Aftermath sessions.
The album’s title and artwork play off a floral motif, with each band member’s portrait appearing atop a flower stem. According to Bill Wyman, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards arranged Brian Jones’s flower without leaves as a private joke.
Though not a studio album in the traditional sense, Flowers served as a valuable stopgap for American fans, collecting stray tracks that had been left off the US versions of Aftermath and Between the Buttons. It reached number three on the Billboard chart and was later certified gold, offering a glimpse into the band’s mid-sixties evolution while bridging the gap between Between the Buttons and the psychedelic shift of Their Satanic Majesties Request.
