NEW LP
New sealed copy.
The Marías' debut studio album, CINEMA, was released on June 25, 2021. The album's development began before the band had even formed, with inspiration drawn from their love for film, reflected in the project's title and theatrical scoring featured on tracks like "Just a Feeling" and "Hable con Ella." Each song was approached as if it were a scene in a film, with the band describing the tracks as having diverse developments with sentimental value.
The album was initially considered finished prior to 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the band to completely remodel the record during quarantine. By the time it reached streaming services, only five songs were written pre-2020, with others created in various locations including bedrooms, tour vans, and during the early days of the pandemic. The title pays tribute to the band's early days writing for film and television and works in both English and Spanish, reflecting the bilingual nature of the band's music.
CINEMA was the only Marías album to feature bassist Ariel Ferman and their only release as a five-piece. The album showcases the band's cinematic approach to songwriting and production, blending both languages and influences to create a cohesive artistic statement rooted in their origins.
