NEW LP
New sealed copy.
Marking over five decades as one of Texas’s most enduring and beloved bands, Asleep at the Wheel returns with Riding High in Texas, a ten-track tribute to the state they’ve called home since 1974. Out August 22, this 32nd studio album brings together songs that celebrate the Lone Star State’s history, spirit, and musical legacy, featuring compositions by Jimmie Rodgers, Guy Clark, and Charlie Daniels.
Alongside founder Ray Benson, the record introduces new member Ian Stewart on fiddle and vocals, while also welcoming guest appearances from Billy Strings and Lyle Lovett. Lead single “Texas in My Soul,” originally written by Ernest Tubb and popularized by Willie Nelson, sets the tone with twin fiddles, steel guitar, a piano solo, and Benson’s signature vocal warmth.
Equal parts celebration and reflection, Riding High in Texas shows why Asleep at the Wheel remains a vital voice in Western swing and Texas roots music, fifty-five years on.
