NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 2023 reissue.
Good Girl Gone Bad is the third studio album by Rihanna, released on May 31, 2007 by Def Jam Recordings and SRP Records. It marked a clear shift from the Caribbean and dancehall elements of her first two albums toward a more direct pop, dance pop, and R and B sound, with strong 1980s influences. Rihanna worked with a wide group of producers, including Tricky Stewart, The Dream, Timbaland, Stargate, and Ne Yo, and also introduced a more sharply defined public image during this period.
The album produced a long run of major singles, including “Umbrella,” “Shut Up and Drive,” “Hate That I Love You,” “Dont Stop the Music,” and “Rehab.” “Umbrella” became the key breakthrough, topping charts internationally and helping reset the scale of Rihanna’s mainstream success. A year later, the expanded edition Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded added “Take a Bow” and “Disturbia,” both of which extended the album’s commercial run even further.
Commercially, the record was a major global success. It debuted at number two in the United States, reached number one in several countries including the United Kingdom and Canada, and went on to sell in the millions worldwide. It also received seven Grammy nominations, winning Best Rap Sung Collaboration for “Umbrella,” and remains the album most closely associated with Rihanna’s transition from early career hitmaker to top tier pop figure.
