Alright, Still is the debut album by Lily Allen, released in 2006 through Regal Recordings. Built around conversational lyrics, sharp humour, and a mix of pop, ska, reggae, and hip hop influences, the album introduced Allen’s distinctly British songwriting style and quickly made her one of the breakout artists of the mid 2000s.
Much of the album’s early attention came through demos Allen shared on MySpace before signing with Regal. After beginning work with production duo Future Cut, she later collaborated with Greg Kurstin and Mark Ronson to complete the record. Songs throughout the album focus on relationships, nightlife, and everyday frustrations, often delivered with a sarcastic or deadpan tone.
The album was both a critical and commercial success, producing hits including “Smile” and “LDN”. It reached number two in the UK, sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.
