A Matter of Time is the third studio album by Laufey, released on August 22, 2025 through Vingolf Recordings and AWAL. Produced with longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner, the album builds on her earlier blend of jazz, classical, and pop while moving toward a more expansive and emotionally direct sound.
The record marks a shift away from her earlier focus on traditional jazz stylings, instead leaning into personal songwriting that explores themes of heartbreak, friendship, self doubt, and growth. Singles such as “Silver Lining,” “Tough Luck,” “Lover Girl,” and “Snow White” reflect that balance between vintage influence and a more contemporary, vulnerable perspective.
A Matter of Time was met with strong critical reception and went on to win Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. It further established Laufey’s position as a modern interpreter of classic songwriting traditions while expanding her sound for a broader audience.
