Don't Bore Us Get to the Chorus Roxette’s Greatest Hits arrived in October 1995 and brought together the duo’s most recognisable singles along with four new recordings. The collection highlights the run of international hits that defined their early nineties presence, including the four songs that reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 along with several other top ten entries. It also gathers non album soundtrack singles such as “It Must Have Been Love” and “Almost Unreal.”
Three of the new tracks were issued as singles. “You Dont Understand Me” introduced the compilation worldwide and marked the first time Per Gessle co wrote a Roxette song with an outside collaborator. “June Afternoon” and “She Doesnt Live Here Anymore” followed, recorded with members of Gyllene Tider, and each found modest chart success in several European territories. Another new recording, “I Dont Want to Get Hurt,” gained attention in Brazil after receiving prominent placement in a television drama.
The album was a major commercial success on release, quickly surpassing two million sales within its first months and later reaching an estimated six million worldwide. It debuted near the top of charts across Europe, was certified platinum in several countries, and became a steady seller in markets such as Sweden, Portugal, Germany, and Australia. The compilation reached North America later, with a revised sequence issued in 2000 that substituted region specific singles.
Critical responses often noted the strength of the songwriting and the consistency of the material assembled across the set. Reviewers pointed out the volume of familiar singles and highlighted the new tracks as a natural extension of the period the collection represents.
