Dark Horse, Nickelback’s sixth studio album, was released on November 19, 2008. It followed the success of their multi-platinum album, All the Right Reasons (2005). Co-produced by the band and the renowned producer and songwriter Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who has collaborated with acts like Foreigner, AC/DC, Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, and Shania Twain, Dark Horse debuted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 and sold 326,000 copies in its first week. Despite its impressive sales, the album remained in the Top 100 for over a year and peaked at number 46 in its 91st week, in August 2010. Notably, it achieved a remarkable 125 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.

In recognition of its enduring popularity, Dark Horse was ranked at number 191 on Billboard’s 200 Albums of the Decade. Moreover, it solidified Nickelback’s status as a four-time consecutive Multi-Platinum selling album in the United States. As of 2010, the album had sold an impressive 3 million copies in the US and a total of 5 million copies worldwide.
