Shine is the debut EP by Seattle rock band Mother Love Bone, released on 6 March 1989 via Stardog/Mercury Records. It is the only official release issued during the lifetime of vocalist Andrew Wood.
The EP was recorded in November 1988 at London Bridge Studios in Seattle and produced and mixed by Mark Dearnley. Cover photography was provided by Charles Peterson. Musically, Shine leans toward the band’s heavier and more stripped down side, with the extended track “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns” standing apart as a longer, more atmospheric centerpiece.
Shine marked Mother Love Bone as the first emerging Seattle band of their era to release material through a major label, helping build early momentum around the city’s developing rock scene.
