NEW DOUBLE LP
New sealed copy. 2026 remastered reissue. Gatefold jacket.
Youthanasia is Megadeth’s sixth studio album, released in 1994 through Capitol Records. Following the commercial success of Countdown to Extinction, the band continued to refine a more streamlined and accessible approach, emphasizing mid tempo grooves, strong melodies, and tightly structured songwriting while retaining the precision and heaviness that defined their sound.
Recorded in Arizona and produced by Max Norman and the band, the album features standout tracks including “Reckoning Day”, “Train of Consequences”, and “A Tout le Monde”. Lyrically, the record explores themes of social decline, personal responsibility, addiction, family dysfunction, and mortality. Its title combines the words “youth” and “euthanasia”, reflecting concerns about the challenges facing younger generations.
Upon release, Youthanasia was both a critical and commercial success, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200 and earning platinum certification in the United States. While less overtly thrash oriented than some of the band's earlier work, it remains one of Megadeth’s most popular albums and a key release from their 1990s period.
