American Heartbreak is Zach Bryan’s third studio album and his major label debut, released in 2022 through Belting Bronco and Warner Records. Spanning 34 songs across three discs, the album captures the raw, unpolished songwriting that helped establish Bryan as one of the leading voices in contemporary country and Americana music.
Written during a transformative period in his life, the album explores themes of love, loss, family, regret, and personal growth. Songs range from intimate acoustic performances to fuller heartland rock arrangements, with standout tracks including “Something in the Orange”, “Oklahoma Smokeshow”, and “From Austin”. Bryan described the record as an attempt to capture the experiences and emotions of his mid twenties.
American Heartbreak was both a critical and commercial breakthrough, debuting in the top five of the Billboard 200 and becoming one of the biggest country releases of 2022. It also introduced Bryan to a much wider audience, with “Something in the Orange” becoming his first major crossover hit.
