On September 18, 1971, The Who headlined Goodbye Summer: A Rock Concert, a charity event held at The Oval cricket ground in south London in support of famine relief for Bangladesh. With 35,000 fans in attendance, the band delivered a powerful, career-spanning set that reaffirmed their status as one of the greatest live rock acts of the era.
Newly mixed from the original 8-track analog tapes, this release captures the full performance in stunning detail. The recording was originally captured by Glyn Johns using the Pye Mobile Recording Unit, and newly mixed by longtime collaborator Bob Pridden and Richard Whittaker in 2024. Mastering was completed by Jon and Layla Astley.
The concert ends in classic Who fashion, with Pete Townshend and Keith Moon destroying their gear in a chaotic and unforgettable finale.
