NEW DOUBLE LP

Released in 1992, Ingénue marked a major shift for Canadian singer k.d. lang, moving away from her earlier country-influenced style toward a more polished pop and cabaret sound. It became her most successful album internationally, with a refined production that expanded her audience well beyond her roots.
The album’s lead single, Constant Craving, became a career-defining hit, reaching the Top 40 in the United States and peaking at number 15 in the United Kingdom. Its impact was far-reaching, even inspiring The Rolling Stones to credit lang and co-writer Ben Mink after recognizing the similarity between her song and their 1997 single Anybody Seen My Baby. Other singles from the album include Miss Chatelaine, with its playful and exaggeratedly feminine video, and The Mind of Love.
Praised for its songwriting, arrangements and lang’s distinctive vocal presence, Ingénue remains a landmark in her catalog and was later included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. It stands as a graceful reinvention and a high point of early 1990s pop.
