Much of the album was assembled from self produced four track home recordings, giving it a deliberately rough and experimental character. It was also the final Sublime studio album released during the lifetime of frontman Bradley Nowell.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe record mixes punk, reggae, dub, hip hop, and sample based collage, with numerous borrowed melodies, riffs, and lyrical references woven through the songs. Gwen Stefani appears on \"Saw Red,\" while tracks such as \"Steppin' Razor,\" \"Boss D.J.,\" and \"The Free Loop Dub\" draw directly from earlier reggae and alternative recordings.
